I'd go for the Hudson for its newer, fresher design for '48.

Both are really neat cars and are very close. Years ago I would chosen the Mercury without a second thought but over the years I have learned to really like the Hudson. Hudson by a hair.
That Hudson just jumps out at you. Easy pick! 👀

Hudson. It looks like the future. Mercury...

Hudson styling is miles ahead...but Mercury will catch up next year!

My exact thought.

For 1948, NO-CONTEST the HUDSON! If both were 1949's, I'd be forced to vote a TIE. I'm a huge Hudson lover and love the '49 Mercury.

The Hudson is defiantly more stylish, but my vote goes to the Mercury. The '46 to '48 Mercury has always been one of favorites from that time period
Although the Hudson styling is fresh, that thick windshield header on the convertible is a major turn off for me and I prefer the later grille. I'll go with the older style Mercury, which looks awesome as a convertible.
I voted Merc. Hours before I looked at the photos, Jack, above, voiced the words in my head before I cast the vote. The thick windshield header on the drop top version of the car, has always bothered me.
Back in the '50's, growing up in a car society, Hudson's were 'old man' cars. The Mercs of this era were cool. So now that I'M an old man, I love the Hudson but the Merc pushes my old man's buttons as if I were a teenager!
That Hudson stands out with much more updated looks in 1948. Thanks John.
The Mercury, a longtime favorite.
