They look quite similar from the side, however the rear view of the Mercury is much more appealing to me:

Barry, to keep the daily comparisons manageable I usually display only one pic of each subject. In all fairness to the Ford if you're going to post a pic of the Mercury rear view, you may want to consider including a pic of the Ford rear view. Also for consistency, each should be a hardtop...your pic of the Mercury is that of a convertible. Just saying.

I like Ford here, the best. I believe that vote will be in the minority since the Merc is more upscale, nice taillights, etc.

The stylinf of it looks like they just added on pieces to make it look different than the Ford. The Crestline is smoother, overall, I think. Ford for me.

Excellent exercise John!

I too go by what pictures John posts and not what I cannot see.  So my vote is the Ford.

I like both a lot.  But the MERCURY gets my vote for the sportier grill and the great taillight arrangement.  Compared to what GM and Chrysler Corp. gave us for '52, FoMoCo rocked the styling with both of these, although I did like GM's Buick and Oldsmobile for '52.

I like them both, so a tie today. In '52 I would have bought a Hudson.

Ford please John. The Mercury looks a bit heavy when compared. I prefer the trimmer look of the Ford.

Surprisingly so Bob - hey, don't get me wrong (HA), because I'm wrong on a lot of things, more than I am right, but I would have sworn that the Merc would have carried the day.

Both are attractive cars but I vote for Mercury, a little more upscale.

I like them both but much prefer the grille and tail end treatment of the Mercury.

Two sweethearts...but it's the Ford with the clean and cohesive style wins my vote.
