Buick. It looks great, the Chrysler is dowdy.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
John. Oh you're good, you! A real head scratcher as it turns out. I really like both of these vehicles. But which one over the other?
The Chrysler, though the New Yorker had better years, is still a good looking car coming into the Fabulous Fifties. LOVE the wheels and remnants of a ponton rear fender. Love the Buick's wheels, even more. The sculpture of hood, body sides, and, oh that grill! One vote for the Roadmaster please; and let's keep that color combo John.
Don't care for either, '54 I would have bought a Mercury.
Vote Chrysler.
No interest for either. I'd rather had a Pontiac.😁
I liked both of these cars more in the preceding few years but they are still good looking cars. I give the nod to the Buick by a nose and wait impatiently for the gorgeous '55 editions of both.
Seriously? This is the biggest no-brainer you've ever posted for us John. The BUICK without question or hesitation is my choice today! That Chrysler is an old stodgy elephant parked next to the in your face stylish and modern Buick.

Buick vs. Chrysler, my favorite comparison as they are my 2 favorite makes of car, and perfect direct market competitors.
Very, very close today so I think I'll let the color combo decide for me - I prefer the Buick's.

@georgeschire Nothing stodgy about this Chrysler hemi power plant in '54.

Jack, that only means it had an engine. Sorry to disappoint any or all of the gear heads here, but I have never...read that NEVER...bought a car because of the engine it had. All I've ever been concerned about is that it has an engine. For me, it's about looks, styling and comfort. And that's every time folks. I've never stood over an open hood on a car and got excited about the engine.

@georgeschire George please reconsider your perspective. Back in the day you could have ended up with an Oldsmobile diesel or Cadillac 4-6-8.
@georgeschire, and I thought you were a car guy!
So I'm not a car because I don't get in to engines? That's interesting. I can only say from my perspective, no engine has ever been a reason I bought or didn't buy a car. I buy it because I like the styling inside and out and the comfort it provides me while I'm driving it. I've never been in to speed and noise.
