How do you compare three different price ranges? Of course I would prefer the Lincoln, but at 2/3 the price of that Lincoln, the Mercury was an awfully good buy. But then, perhaps several hundred dollars lower was the Ford, even the top of the line Fairlane. Okay, buy the Fairlane and send a kid to college for a year on the difference between the Ford and the Lincoln.
If it's just styling, I prefer the Lincoln.

I never thought of comparing any car by price range. For me, it's always how the styling and look of the car is to my eyes. I never consider price or engine or anything else. With but one exception, If I personally owned a car or my Dad owned one, then it (in most cases) gets a sentimental vote from me. This was the case for '56 Ford, Mercury and Lincoln. I voted for the Mercury because my Dad owned one, but truth is, I think the Lincoln is the better looking of the three.

It's the Ford for me....my dad had a new Fairlane Town Sedan in '56. The Lincoln and Mercury are tied for 2nd place.
