The Packard was both stately and stylish, as well as far ahead in technology. The Cadillac had mass appeal and lots of splash. Packard for me.
Most who have followed my posts here on the Forum over the years know that I've said many times that, the '56 Cadillac is the most beautifully styled car of the Fifties.
BUT, yup, the proverbial but...or in this case BUTT, I was not a fan of the Eldorado Fins on the '56 Caddy. So in this "Which One?", the PACKARD wins my vote tonight!
Now had the Caddy had its regular Fins, it would have gotten my vote hands down. I offer this beautiful photo by John Merritt as proof of the better styling (at least to my eyes) with the regular Fins.

Near the end of an era, but I stil very much prefer the Packard.
Love both but the Cadillac gets my vote....no problem with the Eldo tail end.

I like the '58 fins on the '56 better than the stock tail light fin. If they had shrunk the oversized bullets on the front, prefer the '57 series 62.
