I was a fan of the '55 and '56 Merc and didn't care as much for the tri-fives.......at the time!!
Fast forward. While I still like the Merc's, the '55 and '56 Chevy has become a favored car over the Mercury's of the same era. And while I do not like the Chevy for '57 as much as the '55 Chevy, the '56 is actually my favorite of the three. I love the teardrop shape of the rear wheel well opening.
The car is clean, styled to perfection and classic.
@perrone1 MY favorite tri five Chevies are a tie for 55 and 56 with the 57 in second place. If the 56 Ford Victoria was in this race, it would edge out the Chevy by a very slim margin.

The Chevy is my favorite of the three years, but the Mercury is still my choice. It may be over-wrought as described in another post, but that adds to the charm of a 50s classic.
Tri-five Chevy I love the '55, dis-like the '56, like '57. Perfection for me would be the '57 [dash counts] with the rear clip from the'55 along with the '55 side trim.
This is a very, very close one for me; I like this '56 Bel Air very much but my tri-five preference goes '55, '57 and '56. This Mercury is also a very nice looking car but I prefer the previous 3 years. The Chevy gets the nod today by a very slim margin for styling and build quality.
Hi I’m still Kevin… and I’ve fallen off the wagon again. All this talk about the ‘56 Chevy caused me to go back to a model that’s been on my watch list for a month. Made an offer and…. you know the rest. I actually needed this to ease the pain of watching my DM 1/1000 ‘32 Ford roadster do 3 or 4 back flips on the concrete after knocking it off my workbench. It was totaled, nothing much left to salvage! No pics of the actual carnage, too graphic and disturbing! Saved this.
Anyone need any parts cheap? (Free!)

Sorry for your loss Kevin. I hope you can find a replacement.
