I love both but my nod goes to the DeSoto for its styling. I like the windshield style and curving roofline design. And those jet exhaust inspired tail lights had me won over ever since I was 6yrs old.

Interesting pairing. Nice cars but my first choice would be the DeSoto.

OLDSMOBILE!  I really do like the DeSoto too, but against the Olds, sorry the DeSoto loses.  General Motors overall styling for '59 was far superior to that of Chrysler Corp. in my opinion.

The DeSoto styling this year looks a bit dated compared to the Olds but I still like it better; especially the rear end.  The color shown doesn't suit it as well as other colors Chryco offered for it, some of which were really striking. It's close between these two though.

I voted Olds, but that DeSoto has aged well to my eyes.

Tough call, but DeSoto is a more coherent design.

A very slight edge to the DeSoto but I like both.

I really like the Oldsmobile, but the DeSoto wins this pick very easily for me. The '59 is one of the finest of the marques designs in the 50s, after the 56, this is my next favorite.

As usual I am opposite George, CC was alright but GM & Fo MoCo sucked other than the Pontiac.  '58 & '59 were tough years for all manufacturers.

Voted DeSoto.

And as usual, I'm happy that we can each respectfully share our favorites.  I will always like GM's '58 & '59 styling line-up better than both FoMoCo and Chrysler Corp.  With the exception of Cadillac for both years, GM rocked with.

Two very nice but very different cars. To me, for the most part, much of the mid to top of the line Chrysler Corp cars looked pretty much the same from '57 through '59. The styling on the '59 Oldsmobile was fresh and new. I'm going with the Oldsmobile.
