The Ford has always seemed a bit classier than the Plymouth. I love that roofline on the Ford.

I like both of these car designs which are so very different from one another.  I prefer the more conservative look of the Ford.  Perhaps I was swayed by the fact that years ago I had a '59 Ford Meteor 2dr. like below; which was very similar save for grille and minor trim changes.

You're killing me John! These are terrific match-ups. I love them both so I voted tie. I had a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 that I drove to high school and loved that puppy!

I've always felt that when making comparisons to cars of the same year, it is important to have each car presented in their "top of the line" version.  The low end versions of any car always looked cheap and void of any detail to my eyes.  Ironically, the low-end versions in most instances were more common for the average families back in the day.  This said, today's "Which One?" is a perfect example of two "top of the line" cars from their respective companies.  And it's an easy one for me to choose which one I would prefer in my drive-way.  THE FORD!  It has luxury written all over it and it's done nicely.

@perrone1 It was basically a Ford body and came in all the same trim levels; just minor trim changes as I mentioned.  There was still the usual Ford lineup available as per the USA.  The Meteor was done to appease the Mercury dealers in Canada in filling their perceived shortcoming in their lineup compared to Ford dealers.  This started in 1949 I believe and carried on in this manner (using full size Ford bodies) up to 1961.  The Meteor was downsized as per the Ford Fairlane, starting in 1962.

Well thought out & stated. In my earlier years I bought a LOT of cars. I bought a LOT of NEW cars and after only owning one for a year or two, at lost. When I bought a new car, I did not rely on what they had on the lot - I ordered the car. Some times, it was a medium level equipped model and some times it was at the higher end but I dod not have to settle.

Once again; excellent automotive information from the best car guys on the net! Thank you Jack!  Cool

To my eye, the 57 Ford was absolutely beautiful, clean and crisp. Then in 58 the designers had to earn their keep so they added a bunch of details that distracted from the overall looks of the car. In 1959  they took a different approach which was better in some regards and worse in others. IMO the grill of the 59 just looks cheap and the tail fins just look too gimmicky. Over the years the 59 Plymouth has become something I have learned to like and then in 1960 Plymouth jumped the track. Plymouth.

It seems the Plymouth is taking a beating here.  But with that said, I like the Plymouth for the sleek lines and the sloped roof.

Interestingly, the "sloped roof" of the Plymouth is what was a major dislike for me from 1957 through 1959.  And regarding those three Plymouth years, I thought the '59 really lost its way in styling.

I agree John and that's why the Plymouth is my choice also.

I also prefer the windshield design as it's more modern and sleek looking than the Ford's.

I chose the Plymouth for thr reasons already stated, the Ford is a little too boxy to me.
