@jack-dodds, I agree. However, after the excesses of 1959 and 1960, Cadillac didn't just hold on to their fins; they settled into vestigial fins that became a nicely executed hallmark of their designs for decades.
Quite right JK and they executed the look very well; evidenced by their strong sales in the post fin era. I'll bet there was heated discussion in the GM board room about retaining any semblance of the fin, given how passe it had become by '62. Quite courageous/insightful really.

True enough Steve but Chryco hung onto the traditional late 50s fins the longest of the Big 3 and others (except Cadillac), so looking back on the era they seem a bit "late to the game" to me.
