Imperial for 1960 was a huge styling improvement over 1959; especially in the grille area.  I am not a fan at all of the 1959-60 Cadillacs; just can't warm up to the excess.  I sure like the following years though.

I agree with Jack about the improvement in the Imperial. I was not a fan of either of these cars in 1959 but the 1960 Imperial gets my vote.

I have no interest in large luxury cars .  Would prefer the Imperial for the engineering of the drive train & suspension, but just don't care for a car that big or the styling of the period or the expensive unnecessary  luxury in them.

This post is negative, but it criticizes no individual with a different opinion, but expresses my opinion which I think is a bit more interesting than the standard reply of praise upon praise.

Today it's the Cadillac. If the colors had been switched, who knows?

They are both impressive cars and represent the excess of the end of 50s & early 60s perfectly. I like them both, but I voted for the Imperial because I think it captures the overall elegance and excess just a bit better than the Cadillac.

I love Imperial as a marque but to my eye 1958 to 1963 Imperials are unbridled excess personified, and whilst I'd agree the 59 Cadillac is surely excessive, I find the 1960 model sleek  and elegant - classy, even!

As much as I prefer the Imperial overall, of these 2 specific cars I vote for the Cadillac. I don't think that bright red suits the Imperial at all. In virtually any other color, it would get my vote.

I haven't said it recently, but John your ongoing efforts with these comparisons are great, and greatly appreciated!

@jkuvakas  I agree too JK, John's choices for comparison are always well matched IMO and I really enjoy seeing the range of everyone's opinions and comments.
