Not even a bit close for this one!  THE RIVIERA all day long!  That other thing couldn't get any more odd looking.  Nothing flows on it at all, while the Riviera is art on wheels!  One of the most beautiful cars of the sixties.

Riviera all the way. One of the all-time styling greats!

Not as easy as it initially seemed. The Avanti, up against a different car and it would be a winner. It is part of automotive history, an advanced piece of motoring that made people stand up and take notice of its accomplishments.

Since it is pitted against a true icon, I have to give my vote to the Riviera but it wasn't without added internal pressure.

These are two automotive design icons that have different briefs. I love them both so it's a rare tie.

Given a choice on which of this pairing I would enjoy most as a daily driver, I would without hesitation choose the Avanti. As Ed says, both are iconic designs. The question to is, which would be more fun.

Another Sophie's choice! Odd-looking Avanti? Apparently, the Museum of Modern Art thought it was more worthy of being labeled "Art" than the Riviera. And I agree with them! This one is a real toss up in my eyes. But if I had to choose one, I'd go with the Avanti for better handling and acceleration.

Easy choice, the Buick for me.  Love this version of the Riviera.

No interest in either, they may look beautiful and be iconic to most people but in '63 I would have bought the Pontiac Grand Prix or the Ford Galaxie 500 XL.

As always it's in the eye of the beholder.  Not discounting the "Museum of Modern Art", but "art" too, is in the eye of the beholder.  The true definition of art, is how each person sees it.  I see art in the Riviera's styling, while in the Avanti's styling I see  a mess.  For me, it just doesn't flow cohesively any way I look at it.

I NEVER liked the Avanti, I think it's about as homely as you can get, that's JMHO though. The Buick however is a work of art.💯🤑

For looks the Buick. For the driving experience the Avanti. Both excel for their intended purpose. Tie.

Both are stunningly beautiful automobiles from Studebaker and Buick and I am delighted to have 1/18 scale replicas of each one ! Since Studebaker was a client of my Dad's and South Bend was not too far away from the Chicago area, I got sit in Raymond Lowey's and Andy Grantatelli's masterpiece back then. What a treat for a kid ! And the gorgeous Buick Riviera was a true classic from GM and Bill Mitchell's GM design team.
