I can't seem to keep away from Mercury despite the good looks of that Olds 98.

I prefer the Merc just a bit more, taillights treatment breaks the tie!

From the side views I like both.  So I had to rate them from the "front and rear" perspective.  OLDSMOBILE wins on both accounts.

Mercury for me as well.  The Olds just looks like a land yacht with it's overall length.

Mercury for me. The Olds styling, or lack of, did it for me.

Mercury wins this one.  I love the Olds grille treatment but not so much the tail end.  Merc is sportier looking as well; although I do prefer the '63 grille and tail lights.

To me it's the Oldsmobile by a large margin, the Mercury is just a Ford.

Funny you say that, as I had initially thought that too.  Truth is though, Mercury did have more of its own identity back by 1964, at least to my eyes, to not look as close to Ford as it did the first couple of years of the decade.  And sadly (again to my eyes) the next year in '65 Mercury was back to practically being a Ford clone again.  So the '64 is a favorite of mine, but in the example here, against Oldsmobile that year, Oldsmobile took my vote.
