Oh good one John!!
For me, the '66 Plymouth was too boxy. Other year models were far more pleasing. Today, the SS396 wins handily!! (Perfect color too!)
I'm going with the Plymouth. I like its sharp looks and its trapezoidal hardtop. Plus a friend had one when I was young, so nostalgia.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
That Plymouth is sharp but I like the Chevy more! 👀👍

Of the two, the PLYMOUTH has my eyes.

I relate to both. My first new car was a 66 Buick Skylark GS 400 with the same body as the Chevelle, and some years later I bought a Plymouth Fury III station wagon for a second car. The Buick was one quick car with it's nail head 401 and the Plymouth was a work horse 318 and ability to hold 4X8 feet sheets of plywood and sheet rock with it's back two rows of seats folded flat. Chevy gets my vote for nostalgia.
I owned the convertible version of that Chevelle SS. Wrote it off, January 11th, 1972 in a snow blizzard head on crash. I survived but the car did not. It did save my life.
It was a car that I would have liked to keep permanently. It even went to Woodstock in 1969. Great car, good memories.
Plymouth please, I much prefer the Dodge Coronet but it is not offered; I don't know about the Plymouth but the Coronet being the same basic car, it rode better & handled better and was just as fast or faster than the Chevy as well as having more room and easier access in & out. Looks, I like square.
Not a fan of the 66,67 Chevelle's. Did not really start to like Chevelle's until the 69 year, even though the 68 is the same, but I like the tail end better on the 69. So the Plymouth wins this battle.
Plymouth not only for better looks but even more so for (in my opinion) superior engine/ transmission/suspension.

Tough call for me...Back in the day it would have been Chevrolet...today I'm going with the Plymouth by the smallest of margins.
