I give the nod to the Cougar, mainly due to its rarity as an Eliminator, but this is a very close one.  I owned several Mustangs and Cougars and must say that the Cougars provided a more enjoyable driving experience.  None of them were as powerful as these two of course.  These two cars suffered a bit in the nose design IMHO; I much preferred the 1969 versions of both and would pick the Mustang over the Cougar this year.

We owned two of the next generation Mercury Cougar XR-7's and loved them. But I have to give the nod to that gorgeous 'Stang!!

Going with the Cougar, rarity is a good point. 👍😎

Perhaps one of the toughest yet. Both designs are a knockout. I really like the '70 Mustang. And I love the 429. But, for any practical purpose, that car with that engine only really does one thing well. And some of the things I would be looking for are most probably absent...like a/c and maybe power steering. With no callouts on the Cougar, I'm betting it has a 351 or, better yet, a 302, giving the car great performance with some balance. It also has a much nicer interior. I voted for the Cougar.

@jkuvakas I agree JK; the Boss 302 was a much better road handling car.  You could get the Cougar Eliminator with the big block too, but the smaller engine option would no doubt perform better overall as well.

Two really interesting vehicles. I really had trouble here. I might have gone with a tie but the orange paint on the Cougar was not my preference. Mustang this time.

I didn't even look at the Cougar before I voted for the Mustang. Yeah, the 429 was a boat anchor, but just look at it!

Mustang for me. I loved the 67 and 68 Cougar but not thereafter.

I'm going with the Cougar for the previously stated comments and one other..... I prefer its coupe styling over the 'stangs FB.
