Had I used the Torino, I'm positive some here would have complained that's not a "pony car." Only goes to say you can't please all of the people all of the time.
BTW, if anyone here feels they are willing to take this over, I will gladly give up the reins to this high paying position. It would be fun to sit back and take shots at someone else's labor.
I know how hard you work on the planning and presentation of this feature John. It's a "look forward daily" segment of the entire website that excites people and has become so much a part of the little car environment.
I also understand and feel the frustration that can be connected to performing a task such as finding worthy auto opponents to set up against each other or more than two once in a while, as you do.
When I was putting out so many of the Mint reviews, I sometime dreaded the responses - some love a car and some hate it and some couldn't make the correlation from car to model. Just 'rolling with it' didn't come easy.
I also know how 1 or 2 complaints about a particular facet of the "Which" Poll can be more disconcerting that the good feeling you get with 40 times that number of good comments. Human nature I guess. But if you give this up, I'm going out back and eat worms. I look so forward to this each day; you just can't believe! THANKS John!!
Yet another challenge...for me, at least. I like the Mustang, but I always felt like the previous generation was a little nicer. I've always had a soft spot for this generation of the Torino and Cyclone, particularly the Cyclone. The Merc gets my vote today.

Mustang for me. Don't like the beak on the Merc.
JOHN B. Thanks for your daily efforts, it's appreciated.
Mustang, I love the '69, like the '68, the '67 & '70 are alright, but the '71 up like the '66 and before I have no interest in. Mercury Cyclone was nice to '70 but the front on the '71 up yuck.
No interest in either today.
NO-CONTEST...MERCURY!

And I prefer the body sculpturing along with its roofline over the ‘stang. And I’m sure it has a bit more room in the backseat which was important when at the drive-in 😂@100ford2003 Steve I am with you. Just look at the nose.
Sorry John, I debated posting the Torino comparison because I thought it might strike a nerve, never intending that. I will say that you do a great job on these comparisons and I look forward to them every night. That said, the '71 to '73 Mustangs and Cougars shared the same platform, only Mercury chose to take the Cougar in the luxury direction, dropping the Eliminator, while the Mustang was available in the Mach 1 and Boss 351 sportroof body, among others. I have a '72 Grande which is more in line with the Cougar XR7, but those would be a boring comparison. Grande attached for your viewing pleasure.
@pete-rovero A good looking Grande, perfect color...enjoy it.
