Old school classic elegance vs new school road luxury. Fifty-six for me please, John!
Their pluses and minuses equal out for a tie from me.

57 for me. It is just sleeker and leaner to me.
57 is a favorite of mine. 👍

Back in 1957 the neighbor who lived directly across the street from us had a '57 as pictured. I would have killed for that CDV.

No interest from me. I didn't start liking Cadillacs until the '61. I DID like the Eldorado Brougham, '57-58 I believe. Steve
Hands down without thought, the 56. It was the year that Cadillac reached the pinnacle of its beauty!!! It had been getting more beautiful each year from 1953, and then in 56 the styling was perfect! All to be lost on the (no doubt) drug-trip induced 57. From then on, Cadillac's incredible royal and regal styling was gone! When I think of a car that for the Fifties is "the car" that I'd pick as the epitome of excellence to my eyes.

I love both of these years but prefer the '57, which is my fave Caddy of its decade; especially in this color, which I have always called "Dentyne". Lol.
Going with the '57 but loving the '56 too.Back in 1957 the neighbor who lived directly across the street from us had a '57 as pictured. I would have killed for that CDV.
Gents, thanks for your responses.
