Tough choice, but I'm going with the 1961 because it's smaller and lighter, and more advanced in its engineering.

'58 is too cool for me, much prefer the '61.

Sandwiched between two icons, the '58 never pushed my buttons. But in red, sans skirts, this Impala is gangbusters-cool. I voted for the '61 though, for a lot of the same reasons given by Ed, above.

The '58 is Elvis with a pompadour while the '61 is more Steve McQueen confident.

I love both cars.  The '58 really suits red and for that matter so does the '61.  I give the nod to the '61 for its crisper styling but it's close this time.

It's not even close for me.  The '61 and everyone  else can keep the '58 as I have no interest in it at all.

I like the '61 a lot.  In fact it's the only GM brand I liked that year.  However, for 1958 CHEVROLET just rocked for me, so I VOTE '58.

Sorry but the 1958 was a great disappointment to me after the iconic 1955 to 1957 variants. It was not until 1961 that I began to appreciate Chevrolets once more. 1961, for sure.

Well JK, if this choice struggle makes you feel like a fool just imagine if we broke all the rules and threw in your beloved '65 Impala as a third choice!  I wouldn't blame you if you just turned and walked away!

Tough call, but it's the one-of-a-kind '58 the does it for me.
