No wrong answer here; both cars are favorites for a lot of folks. The '61 redesign was a vast departure over the previous '60 and, especially, the radical '59.
By '63, that redesign became more refined and defined in body sheet metal and functionality.
By a toenail, I'm voting sixty-three.
An easy win for 1961 from me. It looks like baseball and apple pie.

I once owned a '63 Impala HT (identical to the pic) and loved it but the styling of the '61 is just a bit more attractive to my eye so it gets the nod today. The roof design really adds to its appeal. IMHO every Chevrolet Impala design throughout the 60s was a winner, with the best years being '61 thru '65.
I like the airy greenhouse and the lithe look of the '61. But the '63 has always been one of my favorites, particularly in its SS form.

Both are favorites but I love the sculptured lines of the 63 and the rear panel that houses the tail lights. Very close but 63 for me.
This comparison gives me pause to consider how great a design idea it was to do the roof of the '62 thru '64 HT to kind of resemble a convertible top. It surprises me that this unusual idea was put into production but I'm sure glad it was! I wonder how a comparison between these three years would shake out John B.? Maybe one for the future??
Based on the judging I'd say that John has once again done his job quite well. Thank you JB.
'61 for me. And the 1/18 from Sunstar is a HR 👍

Jack, looks like I did hardtops back on 2-1-2022 and the rag tops back on 2/25/2023. Of course, I'll gladly do the hardtops again. This comparison gives me pause to consider how great a design idea it was to do the roof of the '62 thru '64 HT to kind of resemble a convertible top. Jack, the Silver Blue and Ermine White '63 Impala color combo is a longtime favorite of mine.I once owned a '63 Impala HT (identical to the pic) and loved it but the styling of the '61 is just a bit more attractive to my eye so it gets the nod today. While I like both, the 1961 was to me a refreshing change from 1959-60. I have to go with it.
Without any thought at all, I vote for the 1961. It, along with the '62 and the '65 are the three best looking Chevy's of the Sixties.
