Always liked the ‘58, it was so different and I love those taillights.

1958 Edsel is right there with the '58 Buick & Olds in the over styling department, add a butt wort and any of the three become the ugliest cars of the decade. 1959 is just a smoothed out / rounded off '58, but still not pleasant looking. The '60 is not that bad looking but is just an over decorated Ford, which I like, the Ford that is.
That said, my order for Edsel is: 1960, 1959, 1958 most normal to most radical in the looks department but to own, I would prefer the '58 for it's distinctive design. My sister had a well used '58, what a junk.
I was checking the engine in my sister's '58 with the 410 cu. in. had 375 hp with 475 ft.lbs. of torque caught my attention, me being a MOPAR fan the late '60's 440 Magnum engine had 375 hp with 480 ft.lbs. in a mid-size body was quite a bit faster than the older, heaver Edsel. My sister's next car was [also well used] a '58 Chevy station wagon with a 348 in it, was quick but the Edsel was a tick faster. Coolest she had, another well used, '54 Hudson Hornet Holiday Coupe & the fastest car she owned was a '61 Ford 2 dr sd with a 390 with 3 on the tree, was quick, comparable to late '60's MOPAR 383 Magnum for speed. Or that's what my impressions were, only timed the '61 390 my sister's in the very low 15 second range in the quarter, the best number I can come up with from memory.
I've mentioned this before. In late 1957 when the Edsel debuted, there was a combination Car/boat dealership on the street behind my parents house. Me being only 7 years old in 1958 and loving cars as I did even at that young age, they got the NEW Edsel in. I was in total awe at how different the grill looked from other cars. Honest, I loved it!
To this day, I think the '58 Edsel is a beautiful car and I'm still sad that it was killed off practically even before the '59 model year came along and then in the fall of '59, the '60 Edsel became the LAST one. As for order of preference, the '58 is a beauty on wheels and by far the best looker of the three years. The last two years were nothing more than Ford's. Period. A little different grill and taillights, and then look like Ford's that someone try to customize. Of the two, the '60 is far better looking, and in fact, I like it better than the '60 Ford, which I've always been disappointed in.
1) '58 2) '60 3) '59

1960 followed by 1958.

1960, which really was back to a Ford design. I never took to the Edsel. 1959 would be second best followed by the 1958.
