@david-vandermeer David; I was kind of puzzled as to why Ford seemed to get a 2 year jump on the competition with this unusual body style offering.  GM showed up in '59 and '60 as you know, but then faded until bringing in their Chevelle in '64.  I always wondered why GM didn't do a Nova version to compete with the Falcon through this gap period.

That gray and coral 1959 - what a fantastic color combination. Thanks for all the photos!

@ed-glorius That is my favorite '59 Ford color as well Ed; Geranium and Gunsmoke Gray.

Here is my fave '58 color; Bali Bronze Poly and Desert Beige.  Both of these color combos are rarely seen...at least around my part of the world.

'56 best looking Ford of the '50's, the dash alone puts it ahead of the others.

I think one of the the main factors that make the '55 thru '59 Ford Fairlane/Galaxie (and even cheaper models to some degree) so appealing is their trim application facilitating such a striking color separation; especially in an era where so many bold colors were offered.  Here are a few that remind us how relatively boring our modern car choices are!

Jack, Ford had a name for the color separation, it was called "Style-Tone".

@georgeschire I posted pics of the '56 Ford with and without skirts.  I am not a fan of them but appreciate the opposite point of view.

I was never a real fan of "skirts" on old cars, but in many cases liked them because I'm really NOT a fan of open wheel-wells that show tires and the undercarriage of a car.  In todays world of cars, everyone one of them huge open wheel-wells that show nothing but dirty black tires.  It's extremely unattractive to my eyes.

@jack-dodds

That 1958 is the other one that stood out for fantastic colors. Thanks.

I'm a fan of most factory issued skirts...aftermarket skirts? it all depends.

Tough call! Going with the '56. My Dad bought a new Town Sedan in '56...the first car I drove.

Gents, thanks for the pics and responses.

Again, both look great designs. I slightly prefer the 1956 front grill so made that year my choice. Lots of replies for this selection.

Thanks Jack for the colorful album. The colors back then were terrific. Ironically my 56 Victoria was all over white with a red interior.
