I would normally say the '56 but my first running car was a 5 year old 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 (Black & White) SO I have to vote through my allegiance to it.
No Contest! Hands down the gorgeous '56. The refinements made on it from the previous '55 were outstanding.
The '57 is nice, but side-by-side the '56, it doesn't make the grade to my eyes.

1957 for me. I love its looks.

The way the chrome side spear on the '56 curves up on to the front wing/fender somehow makes the front end of the car look a little too tall and bulky and . . . well, slightly old-fashioned compared with the much sharper '57, which I thought was a great improvement, so it gets my vote.

Appropriate to Groundhog Day, I get up every morning looking for your polls. You're why I know the day and date!
Thanks for doing these, they're a fun challenge each day.

In 1960 I bought a 1956 Victoria with factory air conditioning. The 56 and 57 have always been favorites but loyalty gives my vote to the 56.
@ed-glorius I agree Ed. Thanks for your interesting, challenging and fun daily contributions John B. ; very much appreciated!
@georgeschire I posted pics of the '56 Ford with and without skirts. I am not a fan of them but appreciate the opposite point of view.
Guys, my pleasure...thanks for the kind words.

‘57 was such a change over the ‘56, it gets my vote today. We had a Ranchero in the family in 1960 that was totaled after a drunk rear ended it; my oldest brother was nearly killed but survived. He and his wife recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

I think one of the the main factors that make the '55 thru '59 Ford Fairlane/Galaxie (and even cheaper models to some degree) so appealing is their trim application facilitating such a striking color separation; especially in an era where so many bold colors were offered. Here are a few that remind us how relatively boring our modern car choices are!
