@gdh I have owned a '65 2&2 and a '66 coupe and LOVED both of them, plus I have driven every year up to '72. My favorites (not incl. Shelbys) are the '66 2&2 GT and the '69 Mach I. The ultimate '66 for me would be the Hertz.
Favorite Shelbys are the '66 GT350 and the '67 GT500
@jack-dodds I hung around with the older guys, the ones with cool cars, and among some very nice rides were two fastbacks and a convertible, and the convertible was early 1965, if memory serves me.
Not ever really being a Mustang fan, just looking at the three years, the '69 has the best roof-line and I like the Black stripe front to back on the sides of the car. I guess the '70 would be next as it's close to the '69 in style. And the '71's roof-line doesn't grab me at all.

‘69 is my choice. I prefer the 4headlights design and the reflective body stripes. The ‘70 is second and I’d never consider the ‘71 as it’s too big for me. Thanks John !
Steve, The '71 Mustang Mach 1 appears to be larger, but the specs are very close. In inches:
Wheel Base Length Width Height Weight lbs
1969 108 187.4 70.2 50.5 3200
1970 108 189.2 70.2 51.0 3238
1971 109 189.6 75.0 50.5 3638
The '71 is a wider (and heavier depending on options) car, but essentially the same length and height. Specs are for Mach 1. Just some fun facts, nothing more. 😉
@pete-rovero I always realized that the '71 was a wider car than earlier models but 5 inches is quite a change indeed. It appears I was mistaken thinking the '71 was also a much longer car....interesting!
Thanks Pete. It just looks too big for me and I miss the curvy lines of the ‘69-70.
