I prefer the trimmer looking rear design of the '62, along with the retro '55-'56 tail light design/ positioning.
I will second Jack's opinion.

Dang it John! You did it again pard! OK, let's see here. The '61 is over-the-top styling-wise. The '62 is more refined. '61 for its wheels but '62 for its color. The fins are just a tad too rich, on the '61, for my taste; so drum roll please....'62 for me.
Go big or go home: 1961 for me.

I am not a drummer Tony, but in keeping with another post today....would a pheasant roll suffice?
62 For me .My second choice post war Imperial next to the 55.
I will second Jack's opinion.
And I will third it, although in terms of both front end and rear end style I'd take a '60 in preference to either.

@graeme-ogg I really like the front end of the '60 Imperial Graeme....to my eye it looks like the car is sporting an evil grin....like The Joker. The 1/43 GLM/STAMP version is really well done; I have the 2drht.
And I have the open convertible in red. Lovely.

To my eye, the fins on the late fifties and early sixties Imperials always looked like they needed to be sharpened or that they were formed from folding over a sheet of paper without putting a crease in it.

Yes, they did look a little bit "fat".

I'm not fond of either one. But the rear-end of the '62 makes more sense to me, so it gets my vote. Being honest, I have to say that I don't ever recall an Imperial that knocked my socks off.
It always seemed to me that Chrysler just couldn't find a way to truly make the Imperial a car to compete with Ford's Lincoln and GM's Cadillac.
They tried to tout it as bein on par with both, but car buyers didn't jump on the bandwagon. The styling seemed to be hit or miss with really no rhyme or reason to appearance.

Mr. Negative here, have never seen an Imperial I liked the styling of. I like most Chryslers , most DeSotos alright, love most Dodges, Plymouths are alright ,but Imperials I don't like.
No interest in either one.

Compared to Cadillac? They definitely needed "sharpening"!
