As pictured, DeSoto takes the cake for me. The three "senior" Chrysler Corp. makes share very similar sheet metal, much more so than GM.

Very attractive automobiles from Chrysler Corp ! So far, I have representatives of the Chrysler and DeSoto from that design era of the company.
I'll take the DeSoto among this bunch of lumps.

What Barry said...plus the Dodge and Plymouth are practically twins. The focus of today's post is to demonstrate just how similar these cars looked. As pictured, DeSoto takes the cake for me. The three "senior" Chrysler Corp. makes share very similar sheet metal, much more so than GM.

For me, it's the Imperial. Stately without being pretentious. Then Chrysler and all others tied for third.
I did not interested. Do not care for any of them.
I like the DeSoto as well, it's the most unique. We talk a lot about how similar new cars look, but it's a cycle that's presented itself over the years. It kinda goes along with platform sharing. Some do better than others at making there products have their own personality. JMHO though. 😁
Have no interest in any of them, would have bought a Hudson or Mercury in '53, but rating them for looks:
Chrysler New Yorker
DeSoto Firedome
Imperial
Dodge
Plymouth
This was a fairly plain Jane era for Chrysler when they produced well built but conservative vehicles. I do like the DeSoto most, very similar in build but slightly better looking to me than its brother Chrysler and Imperial. In order, DeSoto, Imperial, Chrysler, Dodge then Plymouth.
It's the GRILL! The TEETH! It appears to be able to just growl its way through the competition.
The early '50's DeSoto's have always caught my eye and been favorites. The rest of this Chrysler doesn't warm my blood.
If it were 1954 again, and these Chrysler Corp. cars were all I had to choose from, give me the DESOTO!

DeSoto first, Chrysler second and the others third.
Gents, thanks for your responses.

Imperial, DeSoto, Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge in that order. I would be happy to drive around in any one of them, wearing my fedora.
Imperial, DeSoto very close behind, almost tied. Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge in last-doesn’t matter which one.
