Great comparo! I'll go with the neo-classic '62.

No-Contest the 1960!
I was never a fan of the "stand-a-lone" headlights. I can hear a conversation emitting from the styling department after the '61 came off the drawing board, "Damn, we forgot to put headlights on the car. Oh well, just stack 'em on the front bumper". Then when the '62 was slightly revamped, another conversation, "For the love Pete, we did it again! Well it's too late now, so just get the car produced".

Unquestionably 1961. It came out when I was 5, and I carried my AMT 1/25 model everywhere for years, like Linus with his blanket. It's the last gasp of big styling, and I'll always love it.

No interest, beyond my pay grade. I prefer driving to sailing. ha ha

What a great reply !

I'm tied btwn the '61 'n '62 for # 1 choice... they're both beautiful to me...I love the front end styling with those stand alone headlights !!!!
No other automotive style had balls enough to be as different as Imperial was !!!
I almost worship the styling ground / center they styled in...
I'm sure, sadly, that we'll never see such beautiful design automobiles as we did thru the 50's and '60's.
Just about breaks my heart...
Today...the cars can't be told from one make from another... 🙁
I want my Dad's brand new '59 Impala back.
Interesting designs but much too large a vehicle for my taste.
I prefer the more understated tail end of the '62. The '60 is second; followed very closely by the '61.

Great story!

Without a doubt the 62. The tailfins on the other two look like someone just added them without regard to what misfits they were to the overall design of the car and to keep the dying tail fin direction of the fifties alive. Love the head lights and tail lights on the 62 as well....what fun.
Well said, Bob!
