@jack-dodds Yes Jack the 51 Mercury gave way to the 54 Pontiac Star Chief Custom sedan. I'm impressed with your sense of recall.

1952.  It's less cumbersome looking, which is one of the reasons I never got behind the Hudsons and Lincolns of that design.  Great street rods, though.

Though the 49-51 Mercs were iconic the 52 initiated a much more modern look.  52 for me.
