1962. It moves on from the pointy rear end of the 1961, and has that big, bold aluminum (?) insert on the side.

@ed-glorius - + 1.  The 1962 just looks more finished.

I like the 62.  The 61 was a chop down design from the nicely winged 1960.

No hesitation - the 1962. The sixty-one design is nice but the sixty-two is consistent, concise and perfectly balanced.

No other Olds beats the '62, in second place for me is the'57, third is the'63, no interest in any other Olds.

Didn't we do this before and the '62 won by a landslide?

I went with the 61.  Like the way it finished in the back.

For me, the '61 was an incredible departure from the previous years' styling, and it is a look I've always admired. But seriously, compared to the absolutely awesome style and presence of the '62 - no contest. All '62 here today.

I did a total restoration on an identical 61 even to the Champaign color. I've also owned two 62 Hardtops. I love both but favor the 61 slightly more for both it's grill and round tail lights.

A more difficult choice than I expected. I've always loved the '62, but looking at the two cars again the '61 definitely had a more interesting and imaginatively styled back end, the rear of the '62 looking just a little plain and boxy by comparison. On the other hand, unlike Bob J. I always really disliked that feeble-looking "receding" grille on the '61, while the '62 has a much bolder front end with that wonderful "floating" nose projecting between the front wings/fenders.

Both attractive in different ways but on balance I guess the '62 gets my vote.

Wow John, Saturday mornings are supposed to be fun and predictable...coffee and a nice nourishing breakfast but nooo, not today thank-you. After looking at your pics I'm choosing the '61 as the Oldsmobile I'd love to be sitting behind the wheel of !

They are both great-looking cars and certainly a design change from the 1960 editions. Here is an old photograph of me and my older sister between the Buick and Oldsmobile displays at the Chicago Automobile Show in 1961. Dad, being connected with that show, got us in early at Chicago's original giant lakefront McCormick Place exhibition.

The '62 for me by a landside!  Yes, the '61 was much, much better than the ugly bland '60, but those "pointy" rear fenders on the '61 just don't do it for me.  The '62 was polished and refined to perfection, to (in my opinion) be "the" best styled Oldsmobile of the sixties decade.

Old news to some here, but Oldsmobile has always been (again, in my opinion) "the" most consistently nice to look at cars of the fifties/sixties GM line-up.  I rank my FAVORITE TEN in this order:

1) '57  2) '62  3) '56  4) '55  5) '59  6) '63  7) '58  8) '54  9) '53  10) '64
