The 1955 to 1957 Chevrolets were my favourite Chevrolets of all times and my family has at least one for each year. I'll take the 1956 Bel Air shown here.

Chevy wins for me. I like the Plymouth too, though.

As much as I like the Plymouth, I have to vote for the CHEVY!  The '56 is my favorite of the Tri-Fives.

I chose the Plymouth way back then and would do it again.  Mine was the Belvedere hardtop with push buttons to operate the automatic transmission.  Loved it!

Interesting story regarding the '56 Chevy in the color combo presented on this thread.  Back in 2002, my wife was up in Hinckley, Minnesota shopping at some of their local shops.  She came across a small Kiosk of Franklin Mint cars in one of the gift shops, and inside the display case was this '56 Chevy convertible in 1:24 scale diecast.

When she came home she looked at my cars on my shelves to see if I had that Chevy, and I didn't!  I called Franklin Mint to order the model, and they claimed they had no record of their even being such a model.  So we drove up to Hinckley and, there it was, and it was a Franklin Mint model.  I bought it of course!

I then called Franklin Mint again and told them I have the model, but they still denied it existed.  Turns out that YES, it was a Franklin Mint model, but it was a "limited edition" issued only to these little gift shops.  Glad I got one!

I love both cars but the tri-five Chevys are unbeatable.

Chevy  because It looks leaner while the Plymouth still has that early 50s bulkiness. However, the following year was a whole new ball game.

Plymouth please.  While I am not overly fond of the Plymouth and in '55 & '57 I would have chosen the Chevy over the Plymouth the '56 Chevy was over done, the '55 was perfect.  '56 the side trim dives down in the rear which I dislike [one reason I dislike Buicks side trim], the over emphasize chrome trim around the parking & tail lights, the wide grill all take away from the basic simple and easy to look at '55 Chevy. Basic body style great, never cares for the dash in either the '55 or '56 but loved the '57 dash.

They're just about equally nice-looking to my eye, but I always give the nod to Chrysler's drivetrain engineering. Therefore, Plymouth for me.

Gotta go with the Chevy Bel air, next to it the Plymouth reminds me of a pregnant goldfish. Lol.

Plymouth is nice, but not as nice as the Chevrolet.
