Not favorites of mine but I like the Cadillac styling of the tail end better.
Both are beautiful and giant luxury automobiles, at this point still having their pre-war styling and design cues. I have a 1/18 '47 Cadillac and would love to also obtain a 1947 Packard in any scale.
A few similarities but both retain their marque lineage. The Packard, for this year, has yet to fully lose it's running board styling, but the Caddy has. Cadillac proudly sports those long ponton fenders but Packard seamlessly blends its side pieces to match the finest custom work of the late forties.
Here are the backs of each; Cadillac and Packard:
One of your toughest yet John. As a Caddy owner I want to vote for the Series 62 but that Clipper is dazzling. Going tie.
Packard, it just looks more elegant. To me anyway.😊
To me these are the last of the beautiful Packard's ( although I like 1955-6) with smooth, elegant, and integrated styling. The Cadillac is a bit brash. Like both, voted Packard.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Styling is fine on both, but the Cadillac wins hands down, for me. The Packard seems to retain a bit of its 30's grill which for me seems out of place with the body. I wouldn't turn it down if it showed up in my driveway, though.
No interest. Too old and show it for my taste.
I’m a lifetime Packard fan. Cadillac not so much, but I greatly appreciate both of these today, John
Both are elephants of their era. I wouldn't have a problem owning either one of them, but if push came to shove, I'd take the somewhat more refined in styling (to my eyes anyway) of the PACKARD. I like the rear-end of the Packard better and the roofline seems to flow a little better for my taste. And the grill work, yea, I like the Packard's better too.

QUESTION: I've always wondered from little kid on, how did the driver ever see out of this rear-view window while driving and looking in his rear-view mirror? The angle of the window, would only allow him to see the sky.
It appears to be more on the roof of the car than on the slope of the roof. And these rear view windows were very common in the late Forties and very early Fifties on many American cars.

Thanks for the tough comparison today John. I have always loved the style of these prewar carryovers from Cadillac and Packard. Try as I may I couldn't pick a clear winner...Tie.
Packard for the overall elegance and especially that front end.
I'm not a fan of either. They're both before my interest in cars but I prefer the Packard styling.
