OMG John - you're on fire with these! Odd looking when first I saw the Packard of that era, it now is like a familiar old friend. OK, I still think of bathtub gin whenever I see it but I'd love to harbor it in my basement garage where only family & I can view it.

The Caddy is iconic in my view and welcome in the garages upstairs! Cad has my vote today.

I like the sleek smooth lines and the nose which looks like it is smiling at you.  My vote Packard.  The Caddy is nice though.

While the Packard has a gorgeous interior, which is always an element in my decision, I never really took to the bathtub designs. Today, it's the Cadddy!

Cadillac for the win. It looks like what it is: the future. Packard not so much.

I'm not really fond of either elephant!  Both are way too bulbous to my eyes, but if forced at gunpoint to take one over the other, I'd take the less pregnant looking CADILLAC.

Would not buy either one, but would not turn either down as a gift.  Caddy looks better to my taste.

Both are beautiful automobiles and convertibles. Definitely, and especially in 1948, I would be delighted to have and drive either one of these giant convertibles. Great colors for each of them here, too.

It has taken me all of these years to acquire a taste for these Packards. If the Cadillac was a 1949 with the new overhead valve engine it would win by a whisker but in this case, the Packard by a whisker.

The gorgeous new Cadillac design for '48 was ahead of its time and instantly made its predecessor look out of style.  Packard can't begin to compare.

Bathtub or not, I bathe in desire for one of those Packard.
