DeSoto please. It had a much more distinguished look to me than the Oldsmobile in 1949.

Strictly judging by looks, I pick the DeSoto.

Both are really nice cars, but that color makes the DeSoto a standout!

Oldsmobile wins for me because it is more modern.

The paint job made it difficult to choose.  The DeSoto is beautiful and the Olds is, unfortunately, hum drum.

This one surprised me.  Being a died in the wool Oldsmobile lover, one would think the Oldsmobile wins.  BUT NOT THIS TIME!  That "waterfall" grille on the DeSoto has always been a draw for me, and had to vote for the DESOTO on this one.

My vote pertains to the cars in general as opposed to just these two examples.  I give the nod to Oldsmobile for styling and drive train.  The color of this Olds doesn't enhance it IMO.

Although I like the Olds,  it always seemed to me to have a sad face.  ☹️

All the Mopars from this generation appear old and unexciting, so I'm picking the Oldsmobile.
