Awe come on! Seriously? The OLDSMOBILE is modern looking beyond words against the frumpy, bulbous, old man's car Packard.

@georgeschire Sorry George, I couldn’t disagree more. That Olds to me was always an “old man” car with that pouty front end with what look like tear drops to me coming from the headlights. But to each his own as my father used to say! ✌️

I prefer the Packard styling this particular year and also find the Olds front end "pouty" and a bit chunky in comparison. I also like the Packard wheel arches.
I agree with Frank and Jack. The Olds has its own look: pouty, yes: perhaps snarling (being kind) and certainly bulbous. The Packard appears sleek, clean and trouble-free - in a youthful kind of way. You take your pick: mine is Packard.
There is something about that frumpy old Packard that I just love. Joy to sit in and drive. I go for the Packard.
I love the Fiesta; its styling, its detailing, and its modernity. It wins, by a lot. Oldsmobile owned the 1950s, and the Fiesta was a major milestone in that success.
I've never been a fan of this generation Packard's looks or its inability to find the right message to send about its place in the market.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Every man to his own taste, but seriously, George, how can you even look at the nose of that Olds then describe the Packard as "bulbous"!!!
The Packard isn't particularly my cup of tea either, but making the Olds look as lean and modern as the Packard would require a serious reworking of that awful old-fashioned hood.

So we continue to learn that it is all in the eye of the beholder. My eyes see the Packard as huge with very old 40's looking styling. And the wheel arches, I'm not a fan of the completely cut out fender to show a wheel, that's a problem with every modern day car today. Oh yea, to each their own, but give me the keys to the Packard and I'm handing them back to you. OLDSMOBILE FOR ME PLEASE!

@georgeschire You'd be better off selling the Packard, than handing back the keys.
Not interested in either. If I needed a car and had to choose one of them, it would be the Packard, but I would not set out to buy either of them.
'53 Hudson, Mercury, Ford are what I would have been looking at to buy back in the day.

Perhaps. But honestly, I'm of the opinion that I'd have better luck selling the Oldsmobile. I may be wrong (and it wouldn't be the first time I was), but I think when push came to shove, folks would line up to look at that Oldsmobile, while the Packard would sit lonely with people ignoring it. I'm sorry, but I just don't see the Packard as a car to draw any serious attention when up against the Olds.

I quite like them both. They are really attractive early-mid Fifties American dreamboats and I would be delighted driving either of them.
@charles-rockett Charles, I agree with your thoughts. I have always liked the Packard for its full wheel cutouts but that grill is enough to turn me off big time. I happen to like the Oldsmobile grill and it's Rocket engine.
