Cadillac. Both are beautiful and it was a difficult choice, but the Cadillac looks the part of power and luxury better.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

John, you beautiful Italian monster - you did another one similar to this and it drove me crazy. I forget which year they were but this is just as hard. You mean Grinch you - HA!

OK, the Caddy is iconic, beautiful in that blue and a fan favorite with those prominent Dagmar's. On the other hand, the Imperial is svelte, trim and sports wire wheels to die for. But I like the '55 version better. Gotta go with the Caddy for '56.

Imperial for me.  Never liked the design of the 50's Cad's.

Love both, but the Imperial is top shelf. My favorite Imperial.

I prefer and voted for the Imperial  - its styling is more pleasing to my eye, more modern-looking, especially that much lower hoodline.

However, to be honest, back in 1956 I think the Cadillac owner would have had the more "impressive" car. It looked the part of a luxury car, with unique styling that was distinctive on the road. As beautiful as Imperial was, it was very obvious that its body was Chrysler (and therefore also DeSoto)-based.

Very nearly a tie but the nod goes to the crisper, trimmer, gorgeous Imperial styling.

Both bigger than I prefer but I find the lines of the Imperial quite appealing.

If you don't mind, I think I'll just wait a year until the '57s come along.

The Caddy calls to me, but the Imperial owns my heart.

An easy one for me today.  The CADILLAC without hesitation gets my vote!  For 1956, in my opinion, the Cadillac is the best looking car from any of the Big Three automakers for that year, and I also think it's the best looking car of the Fifties overall.  No car spelled and said royalty and elite better than the '56 Caddy!

The Cadillac is nice, but it can’t stand up to that gorgeous Imperial’s luxury perfection!
