The Mercury has too much going on...it's the refined Ford for me.

It seems I say this with every comparison; I like both cars and I'd be happy with either. I prefer the '55 Fairlane slightly more than the '56, same with the Mercury. After studying these for a bit, I really think I prefer the glitzier look of the Mercury.
This comparison had me looking at my 1:18 scale models of these two, and with those, the Mercury gets the nod.
