This is basically for me an exercise in somehow finding a way to break a tie between these two gorgeous cars.  This year Cadillac is iconic and makes a commanding visual statement as it cruises on by or grabs the attention at shows, but the '57 and '62 are my favorite years.  The Lincoln is perhaps less iconic but has a leaner, crisper design that flows better and looks sportier despite its full size; making it my favorite year of its marque.  Lincoln gets the win this time by an extremely narrow margin, which would widen if these cars were 2-door hardtops.  Sadly Lincoln designers would lose their minds over the next four years, allowing Cadillac sales to dominate before introducing the beautiful '61; albeit only in a 4-door body style.

Lincoln. Finally a truly impressive design from them for this.

Ditto on the hardtops.

I'm not usually a fan of Cadillacs or Lincolns, but in 56 I think the Lincoln looks more modern. So I vote Lincoln.

Both are beautiful American Fifties luxury automobiles. I would be delighted back then or right now to have and drive either of these dreamboats. Both Ford/Lincoln and General Motors/Cadillac were really firing on all cylinders (all 8 of them) with these superb cars !

A true dilemma for me. The question is - Which. But while I would rather own the '56 Cadillac, I like the '56 Lincoln better. My vote goes Lincoln.

I voted for Lincoln as I prefer its more modern styling. The caddy styling looks too bloated and stodgy to me…and I see that every time I shave 😂

@100ford2003 Steve you must be loaded!  I've heard of guys displaying a treasured car in their living room or man cave but in the bathroom!  Wow man' you got class.  Or maybe you bought the killer El Dorado Jet Tub??
