Ford. The Plymouth is overwrought.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Definitely Ford.  I did not like the Ford when it came out but a friends mother got a new convertible silver in color, I drove it a few timers and grew to like it and have ever since. Always hated the Plymouth styling, it was way over done for my taste.  Funny, I generally like Dodge but dislike Plymouth.

Both are beautiful automobiles and I happily have diecast replicas of both. Each car was developing beyond it's great late 1950's styling and the decade of the 1960's was now upon us and more sensational cars from each maker.

I really like both but had a hard time deciding until I thought okay let's get down to brass tacks. I decided on the Plymouth just because I like, IMO, its styling.  so that's my choice today. It's styling was kind of way out there for the year but I love it now ! Steve

Ford for me. I liked the 59 Plymouth but I thought the designers lost their minds for the 60.

To my eyes as a 9 year old kid in 1960, the styling of almost everything from the Big Three was overall, NOT GOOD.  I chose the PLYMOUTH over the FORD today, but I'm not really fond of either.

When my Dad took me to all the dealership showrooms that year, I remember not really having any WOW moments when seeing the cars.

Above I said, "overall" '60 wasn't good, so when thinking about this "Which One?", it made me rank the ones liked.  My list looks like this:

1) Chrysler  2) Mercury  3) Buick  It stops there!  Everything else for '60 was Hu-hum at best.

LOL, I remember thinking that about "the very bland" Pontiac's and Oldsmobile's for '60.  The '59's were so (to my eyes) drop-dead gorgeous and then for '60, they became void of any any styling at all.

I went with the Ford, that Fury a bit overdone in 1960.

Ford for the easy win today.  I liked the Ford in '60 but didn't love it; I have come to appreciate it much more in the last decade.  I never liked this year Plymouth at all.

Today I prefer the cleaner look of the Ford.

I agree, ‘60 Ford by a very wide margin.
