Both GREAT looking cars. Both aerodynamic in that era's space-age styling theme. The Imperial looks airplane-ish while the Caddy looks jet-like. Long, lean, sleek & sexy; I'm going with the Eldo!
@perrone1 I too am going with the Eldo. The 61 Caddies are nice but the 62s are the ultimate IMO. I like the stand alone headlights on the Imperial but not enough to rate the car over the Cadillac.
Caddy for me. I never warmed up to the Imperial. 😎✌️

My head says Cadillac, but my heart says Imperial.
I voted Imperial for nostalgic reasons. Five year old me thought it was the most amazing thing.

Cadillac for me as well. I have to agree with Bob, the 62 was the nicest.
Unlike Bob, these headlamps and the bi-plane wing effect have always filled me with horror as does most of Chrysler Corp.'s output at this time. I also prefer the '62, (and '60) Eldorados but because it is not the Imperial, I vote '61 Eldorado.
Neither really excites me, but for sure the CADILLAC over the Imperial. I can't get over the, "OMG, we forgot headlights, so lets just prop them on" look.

The sleek '61 Cadillac was a great styling improvement over the comparatively bulbous '60 and the following year (my favorite Cadillac) it got even better with a fin trim. The Imperial is interesting due to its very unique headlight integration (or lack thereof) but those thick fins are no match for the thinner ones on the Caddy. The Caddy looks classy while the Imperial looks a bit gimmicky.....Cadillac wins this one handily.
I really love the Imperial but the Cadillac wins by a hair.

You know looking at both cars again, I understand why fins were on the way out. They had their time, but it was time for them to go!

I just can't pass on the Imperial's headlights. They are outrageous and, IMO, spawned the neoclassic look that arose later in the seventies. The Imperial is something like the ultimate 50's homage. I voted for it! But I still love the Caddy as a prime representative of the sixties,

Ed,
I was 8yrs and thought the same. Those headlights, the body sweep into those fins and amazing tail lights were something I'd never seen before and I loved it ...! Still do !!
