For 1961, Chevrolet, Ford, then Plymouth. I like the first two but could never get used to the exterior and interior design quirks of that Plymouth.
I've always loved the 1961 Ford, so it wins. I can't decide between the clean Chevy or the crazy Plymouth: it's a head versus heart decision.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I can't decide between the 3 so I voted tie.
I like all 3 for different reasons.
The Chevy for its goodlooks, the Ford because a '61 was my first car and the Plymouth for its quirky design.
Nice choices John.
Thank-you,
Steve
There's not a bad one in the bunch! I like them all. You wouldn't go wrong with any of these from the "low-priced three" in 1961.
Plymouth, Chevy, Ford for me.

I will go with the Chevy, Plymouth then Ford. Love the lines on the Chevy, the craziness of the Plymouth, the Ford is just hum drum.
#1 PLYMOUTH hands down. Love the styling bumper to bumper. Love the grille, that when new was not received well by buyers, but today seems to be the "draw to the car". And if one looks at modern day Lexus and Toyota's, they've in many ways revived the Plymouth grille on their cars. I like it! Number 2 would be the CHEVY. It was beautiful and so much improved from the '60 version. But it got even better in '62 for Chevy, as that is my favorite sixties decade Chevy. Finally, the FORD. All I could remember thinking back then, I was 10 years old in 1961, that is was such drab and plain looking car. Just didn't have that "WOW, that's a cool car appeal" to me then, and still doesn't today.

The styling of the Chevy Impala was fantastic in 1961; IMHO a clear winner here. The Ford was very nice as well but looked somewhat conservative by comparison. The Plymouth has grown on me considerably in recent years but can't compare.
Ford love it, my favorite. Chevy is nice but, I never cared for the everybody else's popular bubble top look, I go to the '62 roof line. Plymouth is just too much for my taste.

Bruce; The best part of the '61 Galaxie was the tail lights, with the "chrome" inlay between. The Starliner roofline was very cool as well.

For me it's Chevrolet by a mile, Ford and Plymouth are in a tie for second place.

As I stated above I voted for the PLYMOUTH, and still do. I thought I'd add that the Plymouth is the only one of the three cars that has the CORRECT white-wall tires on it. If I'm not mistaken the "thin whites" didn't officially come out until 1962, so that would make both the Ford and the Chevy period INCORRECT having thin whites. Period correct for me is important on old cars.

@georgeschire - So shoot me. Over the years, I've posted thousands of pictures on this site and the vast majority have been perfect examples. Some people here aren't happy unless they find fault or say something negative. If that's your thing do not respond to my posts.
BTW, just so you know, the '61 Impala Super Sport which is pictured came with thin whitewalls. The standard Impala came with the wider whitewalls.
