I can't believe it.  For the first time, I voted "no interest in this selection".  With the exception of the '61 Chevrolet, I was not the least bit interest in they styling of any of their '61 cars.  And the DeSoto, which sadly was their last year, looked just odd with that strange grille arrangement.  I'd have taken any other '61 from Chrysler Corp. before I would choose the DeSoto.

Despite what I believe is an exceptionally ugly grill, I choose the DeSoto which was a great handling peppy car. I do prefer the Chevrolet for 1961 more however.

I would really rather have the Buick.

Buick by a nose..... Pinnochio's nose.  The DeSoto deserved a better finale than a 60 Lincolnesque grille/headlight treatment capped off with a unibrow.

@georgeschire:  It is laughable, how opposite we are. 1961 one of my favorite styling years for GM & Ford, lost interest in Chrysler until '65.

GENERALLY my preferences in Cars.

1948 - 1954 Hudson

1949 - 1956 FoMoCo

1957 GMC

1957 - 1959 CC

1961 - 1964 GMC

1961 - 1969 FoMoCo

1965 - 1971 CC

1967 - 1971 AMC

George how close/far apart are we?

The DeSoto is seldom seen, but I see this four door hardtop motoring around the city from time to time.

Buick, primarily because of its hardtop's styling.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Having different likes and viewpoints of various cars is what generates stimulating conversations.  To answer your question of how close I am with your preference in cars, here is how we compare.  I like:

1948 - 1954 Hudson

1940 - 1960, 1962 - 1964 Ford

1949 - 1958, 1960 Mercury

1949 - 1956 Lincoln

1953 - 1959 GMC (with the exception of 1959 Cadillac), 1962 - 1964 GMC

1955, 1961 - 1965 Chrysler Corp. (with the exception of 1961 DeSoto)

Fun thing is, with your likes and my likes we can have exciting conversation I'm sure.

At this point, DeSoto had ceased being either delightful or delovely.  It wasn't only merely dead, it really was most sincerely dead.  😉

Buick without a doubt. A sad ending for DeSoto which only a few years earlier was a standout.
