Tough one!! I've owned both cars but different year models on each. By a slim margin I'll go with the Merc.

The OLDSMOBILE for me, but like the Mercury too. It was the last nice looking Mercury.

If it was an 88 or Starfire, I would have voted Oldsmobile but I went with the Mercury over the pictured 98.
To my eye, the rear quarter panels on the '63/'64 Olds 98 (and Buick Electra 225) 2-door hardtops were just too long and ungainly-looking.

The Mercury for me by a big margin. It's so much more stylish and sporty looking and I especially love its roofline. IMO the Merc, while not inexpensive, is more 'blue collar' than the 'white collar' Olds. I'd never pick that Olds over that Merc.

Both are very nice, but it's the Oldsmobile that gets my vote.
