I am with David, Mercury for me.  It wasn't until the 66 Olds came out that I started to look at them.

Great comparison John....so very close that I had to consider the rear and interior  views as well.  Olds Cutlass get the nod by a nose for its slightly better design.

I like the rear of the Olds better and the interior of the Merc better. i vote Merc as it looks like a smaller, tighter package over all.

Owned both, but of a later year. Liked the Olds a lot - LOVED the Merc. Merc for me.

OLDSMOBILE without any hesitation.  Nicer roof-line, grill work is easier to look at, and it's cleaner looking without the chrome of the other car.

Another apples compared to oranges.  The Olds is a mid-size while the Comet is a compact [Falcon], for '66 the Comet became a mid-size [Fairlane].  But I love the '65 Comet anyway.

Olds for me today...last year of the slim, trim look.

@moe-parr Like you Barry, I much prefer the crisper looking smaller early Olds Cutlass design.

Some see apples and oranges while I see two fine examples of 1965 American Muscle. I'm going with the 442 with its smooth and clean lines.
