Too easy! The 4-4-2! I like the Cougar, but in this instance it is left in the dust.

@georgeschire I agree George...the 442 for me as well.
And in the BLACK paint job with RED interior, that 4-4-2 is off the charts gorgeous!

I like the look, size and handling of the Cougar more in '69. The Olds 442 this year just didn't grab me; it seemed a bit bloated looking in comparison.
I prefer the Cougar, but I generally prefer mid-size cars to pony cars.
@georgeschire I agree as well George. The 442 design just ran circles around the Cougar.
I'm sort of surprised. The voting is double for the Cougar. I'd have thought it would have been overwhelmingly the other way. I wonder if back in 1969 when both were new, if that would have been the case. My thinking is, no.

George, I did a bit of research and here's what I found: The Olds was definitely more popular, but that's because there were so many different Cutlass models produced, (2 and 4-door hardtops and sedans, convertible, station wagons), while the Cougar had just two body styles, 2-door hardtop and convertible. There was a total of 220,511 mid-size Oldsmobiles built verses 100,069 Cougars. But here's where it gets interesting. Of those totals, there was 27,263 Oldsmobile 442s built verses 27,942 Cougar XR-7s. So, the XR-7 was ever so slightly more popular than the 442.
A friend of mine had a triple black big-block XR-7, so my vote went to Cougar.

Thank you Pete! You are the man of the hour, to sweet to be sour! I appreciate the comparisons.

Speaking of bulbous...perfect description for the 442. Love the sleek and stylish Cougar.
