Another great comparo! I liked both back in the day. Now, the T-Bird looks fairly plebian compared to the polarizing Toronado (which I liked quite a bit). Still, I would take the Thunderbird for that amazing interior.

Double yuck.  No interest in either.  The T-bird looks better.

I’d go the Tbird but neither would be high on my list.

Both are too large for my taste.

I voted "Sorry, no interest in this selection".

By 1972 all the Big Three cars were Land Yachts and I was completely turned off with them, and still am today.  The long hoods that we could land a 747 plane on, not to mention the overall length of most of them, that all but prevented getting them in to a home garage, and then be able to close the garage door.

I had an uncle that had to, twice in the seventies, have the front wall of his garage extended to fit his new cars in to it.  And saying they were "Land Yachts" is being polite, because they really were bulbous machines!

It seemed like a period in time that people were only interested in showing their family, neighbors, and co-workers, how big "their car" was.  And the manufacturers fed in to this compulsion to boast by making them longer and longer.  I much preferred mid-size cars by this time in my life

Now at least to show that I'm NOT being completely negative (and not being so on purpose), I can 100% say that I love the colors of both!

I'm not a real fan of either one but if I had to have one park in my driveway I would pick the T-Bird seeing as it's basically a Continental Mark.

@jkuvakas

John, I'd go with you on the interiors.  The T-Bird's is much more inviting and comfortable looking.

The T-Bird had declined in its looks by this year but I would choose it all day long over that Toronado.  How GM ruined what was once a beautiful car....I just don't get it.

I'm another person who isn't a fan of either, but I voted Toronado because it's at least striking.

T-Bird for me. The only Toronado I thought looked good was the first one, from then on the stylist seemed to devote their efforts on how to take  all of the good features out of the car. I love these old boats and I miss my 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V, which I sold 6 months ago due to having too many cars, and its cloud like ride and convenience features. Want to make money? Invest in a nice clean boat from this era...their prices are on fire now.

I'm fortunate that I was not infested by the nae-sayer virus. I see two beautiful V-8 powered personal luxury cruisers painted in period correct colors. My vote goes to Toro...IMO GM quality is superior to that of FoMoCo.
