I can't believe this. I hate to vote TIE, but for the second time in a week, I have to. I have forever been a fan of the late '40s to '56 DeSoto's. They were in my opinion the real star of the Chrysler Corporation in those years. It's that "waterfall" and "toothy" grille that I find most attractive. I love all three of these beasts!

Whenever I've looked at the "toothy" grille, it looks like the car could just "eat" through anything on the road. It looks dominant and commanding of respect. One of the best grilles of all time on any car past or present. And back in the day, it was favored by customizers too. Many a customized car had a grille stolen from a DeSoto.

I have never owned a DeSoto, and I'm not sure why. I like Chrysler products and have had several, including a PT Cruiser that I've had for years and still use almost daily. Perhaps it was because my local Chrysler dealer did not handle them, or maybe I just didn't bump into one at the right moment. The '53 is my choice. If I remember correctly, it was based on the Chrysler, including the engine. I think I like it because it's NOT a showboat, which was uncommon at that time.
A tough pick between the ‘47 & ‘53, they are both gorgeous. A slight edge to the ‘53 only because it looks just a bit newer in overall appearance. The ‘52 is special, but just doesn’t have the glamour the other two have. Now if one had been a ‘54, it’d would be no contest.

As I said above, I love all the DeSoto's from the late '40s through '56. The only thing I did not like about the '56 was that they discontinued the "toothy" grille. That grille for me, made DeSoto in my opinion.
