@david-vandermeer I think we need to do a rear-end preference poll! I respect your opinion, but I much prefer the much smaller ‘63 taillight treatment on my cars. I had blue dots on my ‘Cat, looked amazing.

Stock photo, not my car. Notice the small, round protrusions at the bottom of the lens, the dots fit perfectly. I did manage to shatter one of the lens when drilling. Luckily found a NOS set at our local dealer.

@kevins

Thank-You! Pontiac hit a HR by being different IMO. The ‘63 Pontiac design still looks great all these decades later and I’ll never tire of it.

love these ‘63 tail lights too. Since I turned 10yrs in May ‘63 I have lots of favorites. Corvette, Riviera, Grand Prix, Avanti, Cobra, Ford Galaxie 500XL amongst others.

@100ford2003 Hey Steve, that’s crazy. I was ten years old when my Second Cousin pulled showed up in my parents drive in her brand new, fresh from the dealership 1963 midnight blue Catalina Ventura. It was like being hit with a sledgehammer, tri-power, 4 speed, and gorgeous. I would end up owning that car 25 years later when her and her husband were making room for his latest interest, a Jag XK 120. They actually came through with my often pleas to keep me in mind if they ever got rid of it. The last plate oh the car was 1976, and it had under 60k. Sadly, I had to sell it because of lack of storage and lay-offs. I’ll always regret it but I had no choice. The point of all of this is that I loved everything about that car, the styling was genius, the tri-color interior was gorgeous and unique, the 8 lug wheels always got compliments, and it was plenty powerful in a sleeper kind of way. By the way, my all time favorite taillight treatment is the ‘66 GTO.

When all said and done, I slightly prefer the 1964 front end and much prefer the more visible rear. I would enjoy owning either.

When Pontiac got just about everything right and led GM in style and panache.

I like the 64 better. To me, it seems slightly more refined. The front bumper is slimmer, the side chrome not overly long and the headlight peaks are not so lavish. The 64 is gorgeous!

What Tony said!

@kevins I agree completely with your comments about the '63 Pontiac and the taillights of the '66 GTO.  I owned a mint '67 Firebird back in the late 70s and of course it had those taillights but the GTO tail end styling accommodates them even better than the Firebird.
