The Cadillac fits the brief of luxury car better, but I can't help but vote for the hot rod Lincoln. It's small, looks lithe, and killed it in the Carrera Panamerica.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Oh JOHN! You magnificent fiend! You make these choices so much fun - I love looking forward to them. OK, to business - love both but still see the Lincoln as a nicer Ford. The Cad still looks to me to be an icon.

I also prefer the trimmer but elegant Lincoln.

The Lincoln definitely looks more modern, but it also looks like a glorified Mercury.

Luxury cars are meant to make a statement about the owner's success - and the Cadillac does a better job of that so I voted for it.

Though looking more luxurious, just looks too cumbersome for my taste, looks like it would ride like a boat, which I dislike. Nothing wrong with looking like a Mercury.

Nothing wrong with looking like a Mercury if you're buying a Mercury or a Ford, but if you spent the extra money to buy a Lincoln, you'd want others to notice!

The similarity is such that in the Lucy/Desi movie "The Long Long Trailer", they substituted a same-color, bigger-engined Lincoln for the Mercury when filming the hill-climb scenes, assuming the average viewer wouldn't even realize! Only sharp-eyed car people would notice.

@moe-parr   That's our difference, you want people to notice you and your extravence and I prefer to go unnoticed and blend in. I buy a car for myself not the neighbors.

If you are spending the money to buy a luxury car, then buy a luxury car...Cadillac.

Cadillac styling by 50 miles in this comparison.  I loved the luxury statement the Cadillac styling made and really disliked the Lincoln grille/headlight treatment; although I loved the look of the Mercury.
