From strictly a design standpoint, the DeSoto looks stodgy and the Mercury dated, but the Oldsmobile looks sleek and modern with its slab-sided two-tone paint scheme and panoramic windshield. So, the Oldsmobile is my pick even though I was never fond of the front end of this model year.

Your comments, word for word, echo my thoughts on these '54s, with but a minor difference. I like the Oldsmobile "crying" grilles of the early fifties.

When it comes to what I like on old cars, I get in to "Butts" and "Grills". So I look at these three '54's both front and back and they get analyzed like this. I love the DeSoto grill, but not the rest of the car. I like the Olds grill and the "bullet" taillights, and I like the Mercury the BEST of the three.

I voted for DeSoto, but to be honest, the DeSoto and Mercury are a tie for me. I like each more or less for different things, so when I sum it up. I can't choose between the two. The Oldsmobile comes in last no matter how I look at it.

Like all of them, but for me it's Mercury, DeSoto, Oldsmobile.

Mercury styling wins by far IMHO. Olds and DeSoto are a tie for second.
