A tough one John. I pick the Mercury because I just don't like the windshield header on the Hudson.

The MERCURY for me!  I like the Hudson, but by '54 that body style was old and dated looking.

It's remarkable, to me, how similar the two are in styling. Bob already wrote what i had in my head - I dislike the Hudson's extreme windshield header width. The Merc is all that and a bag of Doritos!

I don't care for the bullets on the front bumper, so my vote went to the Hudson.

I voted Hudson also, despite its awkward header. It otherwise looks better to me.

Hudson, especially in that color! I have one just like it in my 1/43 display case.

I think Hudson did a "fabulous" styling update for 1954, making it look more modern yet maintaining the iconic "Step-down" design.

I like both, until recent years, never would have considered the Hudson.  Another tie for me, two in a few days. 🥴

What gorgeous automobiles ! The Mercury really looks superb and this Hudson beauty and extensive re-do was really the last actual Hudson step-down for the American Motors merger corporation.

+1  What Bob said, plus the Hudson grille lost its looks from previous years...a bit bland by comparison.

Mercury, '53 - '48 would have been Hudson.

You nailed it!  Those taillights are what swayed me completely to voting for it over the Hudson.  Would have loved to have the '54 Mercury just as this one sits in a 1:24 scale model.  Man, would it standout on my shelves!

A longtime fan of the '54 Mercury but it doesn't stand a chance against the sleek and refined style of the '54 Hudson.
