I really like both of these but today, I'm going for looks and that red Mercury appealed. Thanks John for another tough choice.

I also vote Ford. The 55 and 56 Fairlanes were outstanding back then and still today. The changes in 1956 made them even better.

For 1955 I vote MERCURY!  If it were 1956 between the same two cars, I'd vote FORD.  I like the tweaks on the Ford for '56 and the dashboard.  But in '56 for the Mercury, the tweaks weren't as impressive to my eyes.

Tough choice, always loved the 55 and 56 Fords, so that’s how I voted.

The unique lowered roofline of the Montclair hardtop coupe makes it the clear winner for me today!

The beautifully styled '55 Mercury is my second favorite Merc of its decade after the '53.  It gets the nod over the Ford by the slimmest of margins.  In '56 it would be the reverse.

They're both quite baroque, but the Ford does it better at a smaller size. It wins.

Easy...The transparent top would roast and toast the occupants.

I vote Ford today as well.  The Mercury is just a little too far over the top.  If you know what I mean.
