The Lincoln is one of my favorite American 1950s cars. They got the styling so right. The Cadillac looks great too, but the Lincoln wins.

The Cadillac is iconic. But the Lincoln, for fifty-six is just a doll baby. Premiere for the win.
Both great cars, but the Lincoln has all of the best styling for '56

The Cadillac is very nice but everything about the Lincoln is perfect. The designers got every detail just right and then the following year screwed everything up. LINCOLN.
CADILLAC!
The '56 is hands down (IMO) the most beautifully styled and richest looking automobile of the 1950's. No other car from any of the Big Three or Independents gave us a car with more Royalty in appearance attached to it.

Both cars are terrific but I give the nod by a very slim margin to the iconic Cadillac design, which IMHO was consistently attractive from '48 thru '58. Most Lincoln designs thru this same time frame fell far short of Cadillac; but the '56 Lincoln was gorgeous.
I love them both, but I like the Caddy styling better. Now if the '56 Imperial were in there, that would have been my pick.💯
Love the Lincoln but the Cadillac styling for this era does not appeal.
Both are great, but I just prefer the Cadillac for its Styling.
Cadillac's always looked bloated[fat] and way too opulent for my taste [oh look at me I have got too much money and like to waste it on totally unnecessary opulence]. Not a luxury car fan to start with, until the '56 Lincoln Premiere followed by the '57 Cadillac series 62, '62 Cadillac, '69 - '71 Mark III, '62 Chrysler 300, '70 Chrysler 300 Hurst these few are the only luxury cars I care for the looks [styling of] but would not have bought any of them. I prefer function ability to glitz. Today I drive a Subaru Forester Wilderness not a Lexus or Cadillac.

Same. I like an intelligent, unpretentious vehicle. I've had this one for 11+ years and it's going nowhere.

C'mon Ed...how can a '56 Caddy be called non-intelligent and pretentious? And furthermore when did pretentious become a bad quality?
p.c. I just traded in my Cadillac for a Mitsubishi Outlander.....does that make me a hypocrite?
